    Heartbleed everywhere, but not in our products! 

    We have received many questions from our users regarding the omnipresent Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL, a library that is used in many web services and also in our own applications, Shimo and Kiwingu. That’s why we want to inform you about the impact of this bug on your secure VPN connections and cloud storage access.

    First of all: You are completely safe!

    In both cases, with Shimo and Kiwingu, SSL may be used for authentication, but the heartbleed bug is primarily critical when employed on a secured server. Therefore your remote endpoint (e.g. VPN server or cloud storage provider) needs to make sure that the Heartbleed bug is fixed. The client side (our applications) is not affected and cannot be exploited to expose any information.

    Nevertheless, the latest beta versions of our applications will be bundled with a fixed version of the OpenSSL library, which does not contain the Heartbleed bug anymore. This does not add anything to your internet security (as the current versions are already safe), but it makes sure that our applications are up-to-date with the latest security developments.

    Better Support and Shimo 2.2.3 

    In the last weeks I got several emails from people complaining about the quality of support within the last months. I really want to apologize for this situation and I promise that we will improve our support heavily!
    As a first step we introduce a completely new support area for our users. You will find FAQs, discussions and email contacts in this area. The former support forum should be replaced and tremendously enhanced with this step.
    Please let me know what you think of the new support area and what we can improve even further. What do you think about a Wiki page, where people can explain how to setup Shimo in different situations?

      Ummm your site is broken with FF. You can’t incrementally search your page because you capture keyboard input. feh…

      Support still sucks. I just bought Shimo from the MacUpdate offer and successfully downloaded it to a brand new 2 week old 27 inch iMac G5 Quad Core And Shimo is in applications folder. But it won’t open. So, I tried tech support. But it doesn’t exist. So, emailed them when they sent me the license. But still no response.
